What is word bingo — and who is it for?
Word bingo is not a numbers game at all. Instead of the numbers 1–75, every square holds a word, a phrase or a name that you choose, so the card is really a blank template for anything you want people to listen or watch for. The rules stay the same — mark a square when its word comes up, and the first player with five in a row wins — but what goes on the card is entirely up to you.
Who uses word bingo?
- Teachers — sight words, vocabulary, spelling lists, maths answers or foreign-language words. Students listen for the definition and find the answer on their card.
- Meetings and conferences — buzzword bingo with the phrases everyone dreads. It keeps a room awake through the longest presentation.
- Parties — hen and stag nights, baby showers and birthdays: fill the squares with things likely to happen during the evening and let the guests spot them.
- Icebreakers — “find someone who…” cards where every square is a trait, and players mingle until their card is full.
- Study groups and language circles — the same idea, using the words the group is learning this week.
How the word bingo generator works
We built this because people kept asking for cards with their own words on them instead of numbers. Paste your list into the box — one word or phrase per line — and the generator shuffles a different selection onto every card, so no two players share the same layout. Twenty-four words fill a 5×5 card with a free square in the middle; give it thirty to fifty and the game lasts longer, because nobody holds every word at once. Long phrases are shrunk and wrapped to fit their square.
If the words should stay in the order you typed them, tick “Respect order of words”; if everyone should get the same card, tick “Generate identical cards”. As with every card on BingoSheets, you can put your own logo or photo in the centre square, choose a ready-made background or describe a theme and let the AI generate one, and download everything as a print-ready PDF. Cards with a small watermark are free and unlimited; removing the watermark is a paid option.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many words do I need for word bingo?
A 5×5 card holds 24 words plus the free square in the middle. Enter at least 24; if you enter fewer, some words repeat on the card. For a longer game use 30–50, so that no single card holds every word.
Can I use phrases or names instead of single words?
Yes. Each line you enter becomes one square, so a whole phrase or a name works just as well as a single word. Long entries are automatically shrunk and wrapped to fit their square.
Are word bingo cards free to print?
Yes. Generate as many watermarked cards as you like, download the PDF and print it at home or at school — no account needed. Removing the watermark is a paid option.
